It's May everyone and our theme this month is Good Works! This Wednesday we are completing the chocolate flower bouquet to hand out on Sunday for Mother's Day! We hope all of you will be at the activity! It'll be fun and a great way to start off the month!
And here's a video Sis Burchfield found. Please ENJOY!!
We would like to start posting great thoughts and articles each week to help you sweet girls receive extra motivation and inspiration throughout your week :), and posting pictures and videos from our activities! All of the presidency will be able to post things at some point and I am so excited to start re-recording our journey together!
*Please take a few moments to read and enjoy our first spiritual message this week!*
The girls all received an EMBARK passport book when they arrived. They would get their book "stamped"
(stickered) at each port.
Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true (Alma 32:21). I am a daughter of Heavenly Father, who loves me. I have faith in His eternal plan, which centers on Jesus Christ, my Savior.
These travelers ventured off to the chilly lands of ALASKA! Everything was beautiful and white. The girls could talk about faith in the gorgeous snowy mountains while admiring the "northern lights". The girls each got to sample a yummy "snowball" and even take a flower bulb to plant.... but remember "FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!!!" Take care of your bulbs and have a little faith!
Alma 32:28Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.
Be partakers of the divine nature. … Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity (2 Peter 1:4–7).
I have inherited divine qualities, which I will strive to develop.
Lather up on sunscreen and bring your shades! You are headed to HAWAII for Divine Nature! Every girl left with a blue lay and even got to watch a quick video on the ugly duckling. This was a great reminder that our beauty is within and that you have a divine purpose as a daughter of God!
Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God (D&C 18:10). I am of infinite worth with my own divine mission, which I will strive to fulfill.
These two love birds did a great job co-teaching! They both served their mission in RUSSIA! (he is from the USA and she is from Moldova) They taught about individual worth and brought the girls lots of Russian things to look at like dolls, clothes, and maps! They gave every girl a Russian spoon and had a delicious cake and a Russian drink that helps keep them warm in the winter! Individual worth, things can look the same, but are different.
Doctrine and Covenants 18:10Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;
Seek learning, even by study and also by faith (D&C 88:118). I will continually seek opportunities for learning and growth.
Tyler definitely had the luck of the Irish as he taught the girls about KNOWLEDGE. He served his mission in IRELAND! He told them how education is so important. KNOWLEDGE is POWER!!! Knowledge is like a pot of gold! You need to have an interest in something, that creates a spark to help you have the desire to do more! One thing leads to another and then you gain knowledge! Lol- and the Leprechaun is REAL!!
Choice and Accountability
Choose you this day whom ye will serve; … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
I will choose good over evil and will accept responsibility for my decisions.
Laura did a fabulous job with Choice and Accountability! The color is ORANGE.... what other port could be more perfect than FLORIDA!! Laura has connections in Florida and had Florida beach sand shipped in for each of the girls! The girls had so much fun listening to her stories as she compared places and events in Florida to the choices we make and how we are held accountable. One that stood out was the choice of using Styrofoam in a space craft that later on lead to destruction. She also pointed out how Disney World princesses have all found their castle, and we can find our castle at the TEMPLE! (he will be the REAL prince charming!) It is all in our Choices we make!
Therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven
I will help others and build the kingdom through righteous service.
Fumie, who is from JAPAN, spoke on GOOD WORKS! In Japan working hard brings honor to your family! She compared Origami to life- there are so many steps! (don't skip ANY steps!) You may not see the purpose in each step.... just like going to church, reading scriptures, saying your prayers, seminary, and service... these are all steps we take daily and might not see WHY they are important. In the long run, you will create a master piece of work in the Lord's hands.
Till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me (Job 27:5).
I will have the moral courage to make my actions consistent with my knowledge of right and wrong.
"Top of the morning to you" (or evening!) These girls LOVED traveling to LONDON!!! (home of lots of their favorite bands! or maybe it is the super cool accent!) Esther was amazing! She talked about the ten virgins and what that represented. She then talked about LONDON and the ROYAL FAMILY jewels. Esther has been there with her family! She told the girls that even though the jewels are beautiful, super expensive, and have guards watching around the clock, we are worth so much more!
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies (Proverbs 31:10).
I will prepare to enter the temple and remain pure and worthy.
My thoughts and actions will be based on high moral standards.
They say Rome wasn't built in a day, but Cristi built EGYPT in an afternoon!!! She taught the girls about VIRTUE! The room was filled with GOLD and PYRAMIDS! She even made every girl a gold necklace with a quote from Prez. Monson, "Fill your mind with TRUTH, Fill your life with SERVICE, Fill your heart with LOVE!" She taught the girls the importance of becoming a virtuous woman. Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies!
My SWEETHEART who supports me in everything I do!!!
(and loads and unloads my Suburban full of stuff for me, helps me set up and take down, takes the trash out, and checks all the doors and locks up the church!! My HERO!!)
A BIG THANKS to all those who brought refreshments!!! It made our "cruise" experience all inclusive!!!
Another THANK YOU to the Lands, Bells, and Mackeys for loaning us some of their nautical stuff and Sis Ceasar for her talented graphic designs!!
And a HUGE THANKS to these
I have loved serving with you! I have grown and been touched by your sweet spirits! Thank you for loving and serving these girls with "all your heart, might, mind, and strength"! It is time we "EMBARK" in our new adventures. (sniff sniff)
